Hi Brett. Love your music. I especially love your tone. My question to you or anybody in the forum is, how similar intone is the THD compares to you Bogner? I konw you endorse the THD, but you use the Bogner alot. I Have been looking for an amp. Love the Bogner tone but cannot afford one. Thanks for any help.

I have never played the XTC, but I have played the Shiva, which is an awesome amp in it's own right. Bogner amps have definitely made an impact on many of people I know. Vai use to use one of the XTC's and supposedly his Carvin Legacy was made to replicate this tone. Some what like Peavey's 5150 was made after the Soldano SLO head. I have never played the Legacy, but this is what I have heard from other owners. Whether or not it does, I have no clue. It could be a possible alternative if your on a budget though.

On the other hand, I own a THD Flexi 50. I love the tone of this amp. It cuts through in a live performance so very well. It's midrange is so well pronounced. For the longest time I used a Hotplate with this amp, here of late I haven't and the tone sounds so much better. I don't run mine flat out like some do. I set it up for a good mild crunchy clean sound and use pedals (Timmy, Jetter Gainstage Blue) to boost it over the top.

From what I can tell about the two, is the XTC has a lower pronounced mid -range. Plus, it has more gain on tap. It's a multi channel amp who's cleans have never really been bragged on. The Flexi is a one channel amp with a boost function. Like I said before, it's mid-range is very sweet. I think it's best for a medium driven amp.

If I'm not mistaken, Brett said the whole Moe Town album was recording using the Flexi 50.
