One of my all time favourite Jimi tones has to be on Love Or Confusion. It sounds like a very musical vacuum cleaner hooked up to a Marshall in heat. And I mean that in the best possible way. Any ideas how Jimi got it or how best to approximate it?

Thanks that is helpful!

I'd also like to know how he gets the tones, lead and rhythm? Is it just Strat into a Marshall feeding back?

Yes mainly plus the Fuzz Face & the Vox Wha , with or without mods by roger mayer, & natural reverb by playing loud in halls.
The Univibes come later (end of 69).

I've seen pictures of Jimi in the studio with Fender twin amps too.
Imagine what a twin cranked all the way up would sound like. I
wonder if Jimi used two fuzz faces in series or went direct into the
mixing board to get that saturated fuzz sound.

Last month ive played a great 72 sounding left strat, i knew this strat , iplayed it a few months back in 1980. I had to struggle to find the nice spot with my rythm Hand because i was muting too much and always lowering volume while playing. After a while i just made a angle with my ankle (hope it makes sense) and find that it was helping to get better through the Hendrix tone,
like a mandolina.

Anyway i prefer to stick with my regular 63 right handed.
