I cannot recommend highly enough Scott Henderson's DVD on Jazz Fusion Improvisation; lots of triad/pentatonic/substitution useful info... I got the VHS version years ago and wore it out.

great stuff guys! i will post some ideas using Herring way of improvising...
what does he use on minor stuff? i got the idea about major triad diminished stuff but what about minor stuff?
