I'm a beginner, and am getting some sort of acoustic/electric guitar for Christmas. Any suggestions as to brand of guitar and amp?
Thanks y'all _________________

What price range are you talking? Is there any feature that matters more to you than something else might? If you want a lot of versatility, one of those new Line 6 Variax electrics or acoustics might be a good guitar(they have lots of features and play well). |

Get a used strat and a small practice amp. Have someone who knows what they're doing configure it for you. _________________ GNOSiS

If you want to play electric, start with electric.
I think the Yamaha Pacifica is a good buy, and maybe look into an effects unit. |

I have a Warmoth parts Telecaster that is all setup perfert and has a Seymour Duncan Antiquity in the bridge pickup. I was getting ready to list on Ebay for like $500 to $600. If you're interested let me know. The parts are worth over $1000......
It has a black pickguard in it now...... |

that is one sweet guitar! I may be looking for something cheaper as I need to get an amp too and am on a tighter budget that I thought.
I'm also looking at a brand new Fender Standard Satin Stratocaster and amp for about $600..here is the link. Any feedback would be great!

For the money I would look at getting a used american strat on eBay for 450-600 and either the fender hot rod series amps (Pro Jr., HR Deluxe) or the peavey classics (Classic 30 or 50). Either of these combinations give you a real lifetime quality guitar and an pro amp that can always be used as a stereo accompaniment to your future rig. I'll look up a few options and email the auctions to you! Good Luck _________________ All compounded things decay. Work out your own salvation with diligence. |

OK...I went a bit cheap for my first guitar.
I got a Fender Squire Bullett series. It only cost me $100 new on EBAY, and should afford me what I need to get started.
Hold onto that guitar captain...I wanna buy it when i can PLAY!! _________________
