Hi everyone. I've been an ARU-oholic since 91. Jimmy is about the best improviser alive, as far as my ears can tell. And the nicest guy in the world to boot. Oh, and what tone!!! Many years ago I went out and bought Marshall after Marshall, a long line of old Strats, and several versions of the tube screamer, trying to get that Herring tone. I then ran into Jimmy and Oteil at the NAMM show where they struck up an impromptu jam; JH whipped out the Strat and TS-9 and plugged them into a new Reverb-o-rocket, but what came out when he hit the standby switch was all Jimmy. I had played around with that amp and determined that it sounded awful. That proved to me right then that any decent tube amp can sound great in the hands of a master. And when I realized that, my own playing started growing by leaps and bounds. I guess you can't blame bad playing on the amp.
It's great that there's finally a forum like this to give praise where it rightly belongs. _________________ "Memory. . . Is nothin but a gimmick!"
