Hey Now y'all;
Well, it is SO nice to find a forum devoted to the guitar god, Jimmy Herring. I've been a big fan since the early 1990's when I saw ARU on the HORDE tour with Phish, Blues Traveller, WSP and the Spin Doctors to name a few of the bands. I was totally blown away by Jimmy and the entire ARU crew, but Jimmy caught my ear.
You all know his history from there, just happening to link up with my favorite bands. First the Allmans, then Phil Lesh and Friends amd eventually, The Dead. And I loved every band in-between (Frogwings, JID, etc...).
So, about 2 years ago, I started something called the Jimmy Herring Appreciation Society. It's basicly a fan club devoted to Jimmy. It requires notihing more than an email to jaystraw@gmail.com, and you are in!
Every Friday I have a random free music raffle, giving away one show featuring Jimmy. The winner is picked at random from all the members of the "Society", and I'll mail the discs the following Monday.
I was also considering a web site, but now that I've been introduced to this forum, we will have to wait and see!
Nice to meet y'all, and I'll see you on 10/20/04 at ARU!!!
