I think they mean Malden - near Revere and Medford.

Funny way the article misspelled Malden - Maul-din like maudlin
AND SO
Here is your English lesson for the day:
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of maudlin-
Etymology: alteration of Mary Magdalene; from her depiction as a weeping penitent
1 : drunk enough to be emotionally silly
2 : weakly and effusively sentimental
