On the pics I saw with the J.Taylor rig, it looks like Mike was playing a three-knob version of the Cot50 on that tour ...
I don't see why, I recently had a chance tp compare a three knob Cot50 with a "Kanji" Cot50 1-knob and even though the first one is supposed to have more control over the typical "Lovepedal" treble frequencies, the 1-knob sounded better, more natural and more open. _________________ where there is music, there is hope |

LOL yeah that's right!
What if I'd say 16?!
Anyway during Eros Ramazzotti's tour Mike had the one knob version (I think it's called the Red) of the Cot 50 almost at its full. |

I have the Gold version. Good pedal, but I think I'm looking for something else.
Anyone interested in trades or buying it for $130? |

A couple of weeks ago I got the red version. I've already got the blue one and I have to say they're pretty different!
The red is hotter and brighter, probably with a tad more volume.
I'll do another test with the same 9v battery to see if the difference remains. |

somewhere either on HRI or TGP, I don't remember, someone tested all six available COT50 versions back to back. It was a very intersting thread as they where ALL different... _________________ where there is music, there is hope |

A fellow gear hound over on HRI loaned me a Voodoo-1. Basically if I like it, then I'll buy it type thing. You know what? I'm selling the Cot50 and buying the Voodoo-1. It's the original small box version and I love it. I can't believe I haven't checked this pedal out before. It's such a good fuzzy clean boost. It's very amp like as well.
Oh yea, and you may return to your normal Cot conversation. lol |

I have a Voodoo-1 but the 3 potis became so crackling and have drop outs on the sweet spots so it became really unusable...
on that note: I recently had to send my VoodooVibe+ to Roger Mayer for repair, the "function" selector-switch failed miserably. Guess what, R.M. would not replace the function switch BUT he wanted to replace both circuitboards alltogether, at a cost that was almost as much as a brand new VoodooVibe+
all in all I am not too happy with the reliability of R.M. products - sorry to say so!
Back to COT50 gossip: I now have a COT50 Kanji and the brown "limited edition" model and I am checking them side to side soon. _________________ where there is music, there is hope |

I hope mine will never brake then! That's quite strange though, why change the "whole" pedal if a switch broke up?
Did he give you any explanation? |

well he didn't talk to me nor my tech in person. It went from my tech to the european R.M. distributor who then got the message from Roger Mayer back to us that they don't really repair things but they only exchange circuit boards as they (the boards) are made to be soldered only once and you need certain "machinery" to do so...?!?!?
The switch was already exchanged by my tech but appearently there was something else faulty since the whole tremolo-function was not working only the chorus and vibrato - but R.M. would not give away his wiring schematics, not even to an official music-store repairman of a store that carries R.M. effects. Now I have a VoodooVibe without tremolo for sale - if someone is interested ?? _________________ where there is music, there is hope |

BTW: does anyone know if Mike leaves it on all the time? cause if it's set on 4 the difference in loudness between on and of is quite much, not very usable.
Also I,ve seen pictures where it seems Mike had it positioned before the SD9, but on his homepage he says the SD9 is first. |

The last time I was Mike live He had the Cot before the SD-9. As already said the Cot is almost at its full, but Mike's foot is always on the volume pedal, so He constantly changes od's output.
Also, I believe Mike's using a lot His volume knob on the guitar to get a cleaner tone -or His picking hand- so imho it's improbable to hear a complete clean sound (without pedals), as the lower the volume the cleaner the sound especially with the Cot. |
