IŽve just received a voodoo-1, and IŽm not having any problems at all getting good tones out of it, but still it would be nice to know which setting Mike is using |

Put the "volume" all the way up on the pedal,
"gain" around 11:00,
"tone" around 1:00
Now use the volume control on your guitar to get a clean tone. |

Thanks!
The taper of pots may vary, but I get a little to much unfocused low end on the nech PU (Strat) with the tone on 1 oŽclock... (The bridge PU sounds fine though also with the "Fatness" on about 2 oŽclock, but the best sound from the neck PU is with "fatness" at about 11-11.30 oŽclock).
This seems to be the difficult thing with this pedal: Getting an "EQ" that doesnŽt get muddy on the neck PU or becomes to thin on the bridge PU.
IŽll give this a try for a while though. (Might lower the bass on the amp a bit!) |

Was these settings the same that he used when it was:
Voodoo-1 -> TS-9 ? |

Nah, I think he went back to Voodoo-1 .. I do have a COT50 Gold and I can't get any useable sounds out using the SD-9 and COT50 together.. |

I have seen that, but that just seems like a horrible combo for me, COT50 is way to trebly, the SD-9 is great but both get very harsh.. |

Well... I guess it really depends on the guitar and Amp you use. I played a '63 Strat a week ago (still amped up on it!) and it was very warm and growling even on the bridge PU, no harshness at all. Add a worn in blackface ProReverb and you might find yourself actually looking for a pedal like the COT50 to add some topend and definition... and since he plays almost clean tones in that band most of the time I reckon he doesn't turn the COT 50 up very much. What I don't get is that he's using the Line6DL4... thats such a tone destroyer to me... well it's all in his hands anyway, you could give him a Ukulele and a broken radio and he could make it scream
cheers

The Cot50 sounds good when you have an amp pushing some air. It's a pedal meant for live use. |
