you shouldn't really refer to the MJM BD as being transparent, IMO. It has a midhump, just like every TS, so it can't really be transparent if it changes your tone, right?

You are correct, Troy, a ...

Hey Troy, Voodoo, Kirk, et al.

I just got myself a Blues Devil OD from Michael Milcetic -- so far so good.
I am getting a nice SRV tone with the following settings: Level @ 50%; Tone @ 10%; Drive ...

Hey Kirk:

I just got my copies of the Greg Koch DVDs yesterday, and they are pretty good. Already picked up a few pointers and copped a few riffs.

Konichi Wha-Wha, Uncle Salty !!

Thanks for the excellent retrospecive on Peter Green. Isn't he the guy who flipped the rythmn pup on his Lester to get an unusual out-of-phase sound?? Besides "A Ha ...

Just bought the Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival DVD, and Doyle plays some great blues, both with his own band and with EC. I know of Peter Greene, but I don't have any of his stuff. Didn't he do an a ...

If DBII can play even a rough approximation of SRV and Jimi, then I'm going to purchase his album, "Welcome" -- thanks to Troy and Voodoo for their comments. As for song-writing, I think it's a shame ...

I didn't really want to throw DB II in there as a blues player, because most of his albums aren't blues, know what I mean?

I'm just familiar with DBII's recent work on Eric Clapton's tribute to Rob ...

Hey Troy:

For me, the two TS-9's run in-series basically acts like a two-stage OD pedal with the second stage being a boost (like your Blues Devil pedal).
But even if I set the output of both ped ...

There is one new guy (well, new to me anyway) who totally blows me away. His name is Philip Sayce, born in 1976 in Wales, but his family moved to Toronto, Canada when he was two. In 1996, Philip relea ...

Thanks for the link, Hide Away !!

Yeah, it's probably the Fender Vibratone speaker-cab he mentions in the interview. It may sound good on the record, but it sounds a bit cheesey on this live DVD. ...

On his guitars... I don't know what the actual pedal is, but it has a distinct oscillating effect. Some kinda fake Leslie speaker thingy -- a bit cheesey sounding, but the playing is inspired (as us ...

Hey Kirk:

I don't know how close I'm actually getting to the SRV tone, but I think I'm in the ballpark with the following rig:

Custom Shop early-60's Strat with Fralin Blues Special pups > S ...

I pre-ordered this DVD back in early September.

I agree with y'all that the 1982 show is truly amazing, and the 1985 show is a bit mediocre. The El Mocambo DVD is my personal favorite, followed by ...
