This morning, I'm listening to the Stax/Fantasy recording, "In Session," featuring SRV and Albert King. I read online that this was recorded for a television station, CHCH in Ontario.

http://www.musictap.net/Reviews/KingAlbertSRVInSessionSACD.html

It's really historically interesting because so many have copied King's guitar work, e.g., Eric Clapton. I guess SRV used to sit in with King during the 1970s. "Just like old times."

Is there any video of this?

Hi Lee.
My suggestion is that you search thru the gig database at this site.
http://www.willmot.com/SRV/

It's an extensive database...but it lists every gig, appearance, and guest spot that Stevie did thru his career. If you know the date when they were together on this occassion then just enter that into the search criteria...if not then search without entering anything and it will bring up all of them. If there's video of this appearance then it will tell you.

Thanks. I didn't realize that stuff was out there beyond the label releases. The listing on the Gig database says it was a television broadcast. It doesn't say anything about a DVD, VHS. Oh well.

I have the video Very Happy

Absolutely amazing. Like owning a piece of history.

There's a part where King pulls out a file and starts filing his nails!!

Another neat part is when king gets up and walks to the back, pretty much handing the reigns to Vaughan, like "you're good kid, show the world."

If I had the resources I would be glad to make a few copies!

Any ideas of how I can copy a VHS? I only have one VCR in the house, DVD's have taken over!

FYI, I bought my copy on ebay for like 10 or 20 dollars, might want to check there. I've bought maybe 6-7 bootleg concerts off of ebay, they are all very good.

I`m sure if you contact the TV station, they`ll fix you up. I`ve got the CD and it is indeed a peice of history. SRV burns, but you can also sense his deference to King, who is witout a doubt the boss of the session. I`ve never heard King play rytmn guitar til this disc, and he was no slouch!!!

I agree that Albert controlled the show, and that's the way it should be!

The reason I liked that video so much is because they are in a studio, and just jammin. They show the engineers sometimes, and they are bobbin' their heads and snappin' their fingers, and sometimes you see them make a "holy shit" face when SRV plays, it's really neat.

SRV only goes off when King tells 'em that it's okay, you can feel the energy between them.

The show is also very informal, SRV is singing Texas Flood and he messes up the words, LOL. He looks at King and says "Oops, I messed up" in a heavy texas accent, they both start laughing and keep jammin! Cool stuff...

If you have a vcr and a dvd player...there's got to be a way to hook them up thru your tv and record one off the other. If your dvd player has record capapbilities then you should be able to copy the vhs tape onto a dvd-r disc. Of course...this comes from my husband who is the king of tech-knowlegable ability. He's a cross between King of Queen and Tim the Tool Man Taylor. Rolling Eyes

DVD has no recording capability. If it was that easy I would make some copies Sad

Here's the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=617&item=6344014015&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
