I actually think Stevie was pretty consistent and, with the possible exception of Live Alive, all of his albums were pretty good. Having said that, I have a special soft spot for Couldn't Stand The Weather. It was the first SRV I heard and it features my favourite SRV tone and shows him stretching out beyond just blues. Scuttle Buttin' still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. |

I like them all but my fave performance is a concert in Germany transmitted from the Alhambra Theatre which I videoed over my satelite, the version of Tin Pan alley is the best ever. The version of Lenny from live in Japan is also stunning. |

How could you forget Family Style? I'd have a hard time picking a "best" album. Some of the songs on these albums weren't that good. |

My favorite is "The Sky Is Crying"...I love the fact that Stevie is playing drums on Empty Arms.....the whole album is just a joy from beginning to end.
My favorite taped performance is a toss-up between '82 Montreux and El Mocambo. I just wish someone would have had the insight to NOT cut out the 3 songs from El Mocambo....oh well. |
