Hey guys, just thought I'd share my experience this weekend.
Our high school music department put on a "cabaret" show, saturday the 16th and sunday the 17th. It lasted about 3 hours and featured every music ensemble at our school. In addition, there were about 6 "featured performers" who auditioned for solos, duets, and special acts. I auditioned by playing SRV's own "Lenny." by myself on my SRV tribute strat. This time I have a good video copy of the performance, but the problem is, I can't seem to find a free program that will rip the audio off of the DVD (a friend made the DVD for me, so that's all I have to use for the audio). Every demo program I have tried has a limit of 5 minutes or so, and my solo is roughly 6 minutes. If anyone knows what I could do to rip the DVD audio track to either WAV or MP3 or even WMA, please let me know. Then I can share it with anyone interested. It's a pretty good showcase of my SRV tribute strat's tone through my Peavey Classic 50 tube combo.
Also, is there any way to take a screenshot of the video without it appearing black? Apparently my parents forgot the digital camera (d'oh!) so I have no JPEG's of the solo, just the video.
P.S. We need to get some more activity on these boards! Recruit your friends! |

Fraps works - screens will be up soon.
As for the other program, that only converts to .avi files. I just need an audio track, minus the video. |

You can also extract the audio from the video:
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/d2a-svcd.htm
You need to open the .VOB files. Then press F4 and save the project. The program would export the audio in AC3 or WAV format.
I hope you understand what I'm saying, because my English sucks... |

Awesome man.
I use a program called IM TOO DVD Audio Ripper. I paid for it though, it was like $30.
Pictures were pretty cool. I thought you were 7 foot jolly green giant with a pot belly and a banjo
I'm jealous. I haven't even been able to to play guitar for like 2 weeks, let alone with the band. Work and school get in the way of everything!! |

I finally got the audio ripping to work, and I'll upload the song to soundclick probably tonight! |

Excited to hear the clips. I can't wait to not be the only guy uploading covers of SRV songs, hehe. I'm just glad this is an SRV board so people don't cut us down for playing some SRV stuff |

Enjoy my performance of Lenny!
And I know what you mean about people knocking on us for playing covers of SRV tunes.
So anyway, I know there were some mistakes in there, but overall I think I played well. There were a few bad tuning moments, but I guess I didn't hear that as much while I was playing, so I didn't fix it.
Any comments/suggestions/pointers would be great! |
