No supposition please!

Ive got some cracking live gigs on cds and tapes. SRV sounds good on every single one, however there are some gigs that are extra special;
I'd recommend Philadelphia 'Unforgettable Night', Upstairs at Harlings Kansas City 1982 and the Alpine Valley shows.

There are also some very interesting things at various gigs.

For instance I have a rare recording of 'Howlin' For My Darlin' where Tommy messes the end up. They never played it again! It was an early Reece gig.

At Harlings Stevie plays a 12 min version of 'Commit a Crime' One chord - on and on and on.

At Paris Olympia 'Couldn't Stand The Weather' has a short bit of the Doors played by Reese and 'Ain't Gone' is 23 minutes long, with loads of Blues noodling - very uncharacteristic SRV guitar - more like mid 70's Clapton - but fascinating nevertheless.

A very funny jam with Buddy Guy wher Buddy is VERY out of tune!

Stevies only mistake at Reading where he loses it in 'Texas Flood'.

Anyone else got or heard of interesting stuff at gigs?

I have a live recording somewhere (Live at Resada's Blues, 1983) that has Stevie playing Rude Mood. Towards the end he must have broken a string or something (that's the only explanation I can think of) because his strings suddenly go horribly out of tune and almost a whole step sharp... Then he cuts out for awhile and comes back in on the right tune.

There's an early Sky is Crying, I think its with LAB (when she's offstage), where he breaks one right at the end.

I didn't think he had 'floating' bridges. I had to take out two springs from my own SRV to enable it to be hard tail. Stevies must have had just a bit of 'float' on it. Its a ball-ache when you have to change all the strings.

Jeffs Boogie from Hawaii is v. good aswell.

I've got the Hammersmith gig where he fell over, and believe it or not thats really good aswell, but a bit 'jammy'.

i hope not to be out off topic a lot but i like very much slow blues tracks like"blues power" of albert king,that he plays and he speaks all the time for 15minutes or another song from albert coolin s "ice pickin"album.its the song "Conversation With Collins",that as before it is about 10 minutes and all the time they are speaking and they say funny things about women etc..or at the tribute dvd for srv that buddy guy make funny noises with his guitar etc... Laughing

i hope you understand for what songs i m looking Laughing

Russell do oyu have much on DVD that's not the available stuff? by that I meanthe DVD's you can buy at a place like best buy.

the reason I ask is because I'M A HUGE FAN, but I have little to nothing of Stevie's on DVD only the ACL show(s), El Mocambo, Montreau, and a show in Daytona in '87. and if you would be willing to make me a copy of a good show I would be willing to pay you or maybe trade something else if youd like. PLEASE HELP MY SRV COLLECTION, Ever since I quit my job DVD's and Guitar is pretty much my life. BUT those older SRV video can only be watch'd so many times without adding some new footage.......

The DVDs come up alot on e-bay. The other stuff tends to be single camera shaky jobs with little or no complete songs. Even the best unnoficial stuff tends to be hard to watch.
I would reccommmend the Live at Harlings Kansas City CD if you see that - its two CDs of early SRV (without LAB). Because they were long sets he comes out with more unusual stuff like You Gone Lost Your Good Thing (another really good slow blues).
