Picked this up on the weekend and it has an interesting article about SRV, by Alan Paul, who I think used to write for Guitar World. It covers the period from Montreux to the release of the first album. Paul makes the claim that SRV is largely responsible for the retro/boutique boom, a statement I'd have to agree with. He also says that the first album was recorded as a demo at Jackson Browne's, with Stevie using Browne's so-called Mother Dumble. Is that the only amp he used on Texas Flood? It certainly is different from any sound he got before or since.

Cheers

Salty

I've read that it was the Mother Dumble and his normal rig at the same time... So-->Mother Dumble + 2 Vibroverbs + 1 Super Reverb. But who the hell knows anymore, lol?

lol you HAVE a vibroverb! And as the owner of 2 vintage super reverbs, i'd say go for something else. They are cool but nowadays there are much better amps. score a couple of vibrokings or something. AWW MAN! a vibroking with an extension cab and your vibroverb would be a SWEET rig!!!

hey man im gonna send you a PM with a proposal...

I've never really considered the Vibroking...that might be something to look into.

I'm going to get the '68 Super I was telling you about checked out by my tech. If its up to snuff, I might get that. I went and looked at it yesterday, it has all the original RCA's and telefunken's in it. I almost passed out when I saw the tubes man, it was a great feeling.

It was one of those "It was my grandpa's amp, and he never played it" stories. So I might be in luck here.

I've always loved the Super Reverb sound.
