So I was reading/looking through the pictures of SRV on Tommy Shannon's website, and I found something weird. Apparently Stevie Ray "became" Bwaydy? Did he have a split personality or something? Where is this all coming from. Some pictures say stuff like, "This is definately Bwaydy right here. I loved them both." It's kinda weird cause Stevie looks really different in those pictures. Does anybody have any info on this? |

This was talked about in all of the biographies that I have read.
Apparently SRV like to unwind just like the rest of us. He would turn into his alter ego named Bwaydy. I guess it was like a dude with a thick southern accent, and lacked intelligence. I can't remember for sure, but it wasn't a SERIOUS thing, just something to get everybody laughing and in a good mood.
That's what I know... |

On Austin City Limits...before crossfire I think..you can see Bwaydy for just a moment! He was amazing, and in this Bwaydy moment in ACL he made all the crowd laugh. Check your DVD...

Thanks for posting the great link, Troy. Like Vaughanabe, I wish I'd known about it sooner. Sony/Epic should do themselves a favour and get this guy to curate the SRV archives for them. |

To that end, it'd be great if you could let us know about any other cool sites that you know of.
Cheers

Another great site! Cheers on that, Troy. Did anybody else read the Cesar Diaz interview at the ToneQuest report? It's available for download here: http://www.tonequest.com/article.htm. Pretty interesting. He basically claims that he invented Stevie's tone and then let him use it. Self-esteem was obviously not an issue for him. He has a different take on why Hendrix used CBS strats, too. Something to do with weaker pick ups (better for effects he claims) and a big resonant headstock. |

The Diaz interview was weird..
Do you think he would have said half of that stuff if SRV was still alive? For some reason I doubt it.
Also,
Keep an eye out on that site, he updates it every month or so. But he doesn't keep the old audio up, so if you want it, download it now! He just taked the old stuff down, and puts up the new stuff.
Also, don't be afraid to donate some moola to him. I gave him like $10 when I first found the site. I figure that should cover me for all the ripping I do off of that site! |
