I found this...thought it was kind of sad how some fans treated him...especially at the end of his career. I wonder if those same fans felt terrible for having done this to him after they learned of his death?

14jul90 - Memorial Hall, Columbus, OH
after "The Things That I Used To Do" Stevie addresses the rowdy audience: "I don't know about you but I didn't come out here to get shit thrown at me. If you see anybody throw anything up here, beat the shit out of 'em. Then let me have my turn."

Set List
Collins Shuffle
The House Is Rockin
Tightrope
Mary Had a Little Lamb
The Things That I Used To Do
Let Me Love You Baby
Texas Flood
Wall Of Denial
Riviera Paradise
You'll Be Mine
Superstition
Cold Shot
Couldn't Stand The Weather
Collins Shuffle
Crossfire
Voodoo Child (Slight Return)

My best guess would be....too much alcohol in the crowd. Rolling Eyes

That usually explains this sort of behavior. Alcohol at musical events can be just as bad as it is at sports events. The anonymity of being in a crowd fueled by booze is a poor mix.

It reminds me of the booing during the 82 Montreaux show. In the DVD you can see some of the "fans" doing the booing. I wonder where they are now?

I agree with you Lee. If I was the one getting boo-ed...I would have taken names and refused to let those people back in to see me in 1985. LOL. But that's just me. Twisted Evil
In the Montreux performance I'm constantly shaking my head at this one guy in the front who has the audacity to stick his fingers in his ears...WHAT!?!? Shocked Evil or Very Mad Rolling Eyes Every time I watch the dvd I sit there wanting to choke this guy! Twisted Evil

The original post said "sad how some fans treated him...especially at the end of his career".

I thought it had something to do with his playing. This is why I was surprised.

This incident took place approx. 6 weeks before he died. His playing was at it's all time peak in my opinion. He was truly at the top of his game. So I don't think it had anything to do with his playing. I think it was just a bunch of morons who saw a chance to try and rattle Stevie's cage. You know the old saying..."instant a$$hole...just add alcohol."
But...the one thing I've learned over the years is this....we all have something that makes us ask "how do you sleep at night" to ourselves.

Stevie says something similar at the '83 Reading Festival performance. From what one british fan tells me, there's a distinct possibility that someone in the crowd had infact thrown human waste up on stage! Evil or Very Mad It's not just a job it's an adventure! Razz
