Very Simple, what era, and or concert do you think had the best tone.

Personally i love the 83 tone, shown on ACL, just sounds so great.

Personally im not a big fan of the 85 montreaux tone at all....

On the Austin City Limits dvd, he plays tightrope. That's got to be one of my favorite guitar solos ever. The tone he gets is a little different than his typical sound but in my opinion it's the BALLS. Feel free to disagree with me but just know I'll slap the taste out your mouth. I agree with hawk, the 85 montreaux sound was lacking but ironically that's when he was using a Dumble SSS. Gimme an old fender tube amp over that piece any day of the week.

The crossfire solo from that disc is one of my favourites....

Ive heard that Texas Flood was recorded on a Dumble bass amp. Anyone know if thats true. That would make sense from the sound, and knowing how sparse equiptment could have been for stevie at the time.

Yes, the album "Texas Flood" was recorded on Jackson Browne's Dumble Dumbleland Bass Amp. I personally think that all of his different tones over the years sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan. It doesn't matter what amp he's playing through, he still sounds the same, absolutely incredible. Of all of his tones though, my favorite would have to be from Mann Music Center in Philadelphia, June 30, 1987. That, in my opinion, is the perfect tone.

I also find myself loving the tone from the Albert King in Session disc. The way he plays combined with the tone, wow that is an awesome sound.

lol Must be because it was recorded in Canada......

Ok, thought not
