I just bought an '87 Fender Champ 12. First off, it's a killer amp. Second, I am getting alot of noise through it with my '96 Hamer Mirage I. This is the same with the Torres sigle coils as it was with the original Duncan Rails that were in it.

What I'm getting is that staticy hum that we all always have when we dime the volume that diminishes when we touch the strings, but this is way more than I've ever heard. As I just had the pups switched, I am not sure if it's the amp or guitar. But I think it's the guitar.

Right now the local guitar guru and I are not on speaking terms and I'm looking for another tech. So in the mean time, got any ideas?

Thanks,
Ted

try different guitars through that amp, try to determine if its the guitar or the amp

if its the guitar, then you could need some shielding. you can buy DIY shhielding kits from stewmc
