Hi Scott, hope you are well.

I would like to ask you if it is possible to use the preamp section of any amp and then use the cabinet simulator. I have a master volume super reverb and I thought of feeding the reverb signal into the sound card and then use the program to simulate the cabinet without the power amp section.

Sorry for the dumb question, just hoping I can get a decent sound instead of using the soulless guitar rig or waves gtr.

I guess it would work - a preamp delivers the same +4 signal as a reactive load, so it could feed your cabinet simulator or DAW and IR's. The thing you'd be missing without a Reactive Load is the power tubes in the amp, so I imagine the tone from a preamp by itself wouldn't sound as big, but it's worth a try.

Just a quick update so anyone who is interested they know. Tried it, works fine, meaning that you can get a more dynamic feel compared to the awful gtr or guitar rig plug ins. This program also has a power amp simulator of different kinds of tubes so it is usable. A lot of tweaking is needed but at least the guitar feels alive and you can get some sort of sustain and a more realistic sound. I guess nothing compared to the reactive load, but for a low budget set up it works just fine. Thanks again for your time answering all of our questions.
