Scott,

I understand that you want quality control over your online content.
That being said, will you be so kind as to release an official live set / DVD of your trio?

I have your CD's and much of your instructional material. However, a big piece of the puzzle involves watching you assimilate what you talk about into a 'heat of the moment' situation. Plus it's entertaining far beyond a student level of appreciation. Plus, plus, plus, plus...

Come on. Just say Yes. You know you want to.
Wink

Ok then, you know WE want you to !

Good luck, I’ve asked Scott the very same thing and he has politely declined. I think a LOT of it had to do with recording live without overdubs is a slightly scary endeavor because in my own case, I could play MUCH better on the “next” gig. As musicians, we constantly strive to get better and better so doing a “live” show captures a particular “moment” but it would include clams and all. I’d LOVE to have another live album of Scott and his band, but I respect his decision to put out studio albums and have FULL control over quality AND quantity. Not to mention the recording quality of doing things in a live setting... LOTS of variables to be sure...

Best,
Chris

I'd like to do a live video but it's not easy - lots of gear to set up and the gear has to be high quality. I wouldn't be comfortable shooting less than 4 nights to get the best stuff - if we recorded one night only, for sure I'd be nervous and freeze up. I'd like to say I'm beyond that but unfortunately I'm not. Then there's the money, which I don't have because I'm financing my new album - so there's that. Doesn't look like a live video is coming anytime soon.

Bet we could raise some money for this via crowdfunding via this forum and the Facebook group.

Who here would contribute?

Yes, please consider crowdfunding. Also, your major sponsors may wish to participate since their gear would be featured in the live performance.

As far as venue, I assume that booking four consecutive nights would be more feasible at Alvas than the Baked Potato. BTW, Josh Smith is doing a live album and DVD recording at the Baked Potato 12/29-30. Maybe, that will serve as some inspiration.

Take my money...

Happy holidays to you and your family.

Most legitimate use of crowd funding ever conceived.

Set sights on the Dog Star and launch this puppy !
