Hi Scott! I'm a big fan of your work since i was 13 and now i have 35 so go figure... Smile
I'm a producer and musician from Spain, and while i spend most of the time working on commercial studios, lately i've been tinkering with the idea of recording guitars at my home studio. I have a nice control room full of outboard, where i mix almost all my work but i don't have a live room at home...
I'm very curious about how you have been able to set up a room in your house, that is capable to handle the SPL of a 4x12 and a 100W head, without resonances and weird shit... specially, taking into account the amount of isolation that you would need to keep the police away and your marriage happy.
The tone of your records speak for itself and aside your great playing, it's evident the tones are well recorded.
Can you share some information and advice, that you consider valuable, for someone who wants to take the same route as you?

Thanks man! sorry for my shitty English!

I made my bedroom into a tracking room - I had a contractor push out the window frames and wall them up, got a split style AC so there's no hole in the wall, and covered about 30% of the room with Primacoustic panels. It's very soft outside the house and I can play until around 11PM.

My family is able to handle it because we live in what used to be a duplex - two apartments under the same roof. When we bought the house, instead of completely tearing down the wall between the apartments, we made a big soundproof door instead, because we knew that some degree of sonic privacy would be needed since we're both musicians. Still, it's loud, and the bass travels through the floor. Anyway, they know this is what I have to do for work and they accept it. I don't do many sessions so it's only loud around here when I'm making an album. We're all happy that it's almost finished!
