Hey Scott,

A while overdue, but still congrats on the article in the November issue of Guitar Player! You definitely should have been on the cover though.

Also, just saw the new Xotic SH signature RC booster coming out. Can you share your thoughts about the pedal - what made you come up with it, difference between the signature and the original, price point perhaps?

Thanks!

Vlad

P.S. I hope that the Octafuzz and your power supply survived that leak in the ceiling in Piermont, NY. The show was fantastic and it was a blast hanging with you guys afterwards.

since were're on the topic of the new RC booster - will you replace your classic rc with this signature or are you going to stick to it?

Thanks Vlad!

The new RC Booster was designed because I wanted a cleaner chord sound. I keep the pedal on and turn down the guitar volume to get a clean sound for chords, and because I set the gain on the RC at about 1 o'clock, and combine it with the crunch channel of the amp, that's a good amount of gain. I have to turn the guitar down to about 5 to clean it up, and that's too far. I loose treble and fatness. With the new RC, I can switch to the pedal's cleaner gain stage and only have to turn down a notch or two - the chord tone is fatter, clearer, and doesn't loose treble. This new version will replace my classic RC.

Hey Scott,

Does that also mean that you can get a louder clean sound with a crunchy amp?

Thanks!
W.

When you use the clean channel of the pedal, you don't need to turn the guitar down as much, so yes the clean sound is a bit louder than the classic RC.

I saw it on youtube last night and went out and got myself one just now - #772 out of 3,000 limited edition. Can't wait to play it!

Hi Scott,

The new SH RC Booster is amazing! Best investment I ever made on a pedal.

BTW, can you tell me which amp (and setup) you used in the Xotic demo video?

Thanks,

Peter

I used my Fender Bandmaster and Kerry Wright 4x12 cab with Greenbacks. I added some reverb & delay later when it was mixed. Glad you like the new RC! I really believe it's the best sounding and most versatile boost pedal ever made.

You mean the modded Bandmaster? Can you elaborate on the knob settings? Also if you don't mind, I'm curious what kind of mod was done to it?

While I love that tone, I can see in that short clip it's all in your fingers!

Thanks Scott,

Peter

I don't know much about the mod in technical terms, only that it's a preamp mod which makes the amp sound fatter and better in general. There are only three knobs - I set the volume at about 7, treble at 5 and bass about 2.

John Suhr's Bella amp sounds just as good if not better than the modded Bandmaster - I'd recommend checking one out. I didn't own the Bella when i did the RC Booster demo.

Bella looks good, too.
Do you have the head or combo, no reverb?

Will definitely check it out as I'm not entirely happy with my Mesa Boogie Mark 2B, which is also a duel 6L6s. Good clean tone, but not so good lead channel and fx loop. I do use your signature Xotic Subtle Volume Control in the loop - another one of your great inventions.

Thanks Scott!

I have the combo without reverb, but I switched the speaker to a Heritage 65 - that's more my tone than the V-Type. The Bella doesn't have a lead channel either - you need a pedal for higher gain tones.

Right, got my SH RC Booster for that:)
I might try the Heritage 65 in my Boogie first using only the clean channel - cheaper than getting a new amp.

Thanks again!
