Hi Scott,
I love the footprints version from the HBC CD... Do you have any suggestions what improvisational approach you are using in your solo? I treid to transcribe it using the software package "transcribe" but gave it up pretty early...
Many thanks for your great music and inspiration!
Boris

he plays the lick at about 1:33 on the HBC recording. Laughing

i didn't transcribe any of this recording, but it sounds like a lot of stuff he covers on the the masterclasses: sidestepping, playing resolutions from chords that aren't really there. a lot of it sounds based off the melody as well. The videos are really good - and footprints is basically a minor blues.

Hi Boris, that's kind of a teaching question and I don't do that on this forum. If you'd like to have a Skype lesson, I'm around. I will say that Footprints was really hard for me because I'd been playing the wrong turnaround (D7 Db7) for many years and had to learn the right one (F#m7b5 B7alt E7alt A7alt). I practiced for weeks on that tune before we recorded it, especially the chord voicings. It's a minor blues, but a very difficult one.
