Hi Scott,
I want to update my HRD with the same Celestion speaker that you use. Because Celestions' product range is way huge I want to be sure that I get the right one. So is this the right model?

Besides using the speaker in the Hotrod Deluxe...would you recommend using two of those speakers in a 2x12 cabinet?

Thanx and keep up your inspiring work!

Nigel

Yes, that's the speaker I have in my HRD, and also in my 2x12 cabinet. Rick Skillman from Celestion says, of all the high voltage speakers they make, the 65 is the closest to a Greenback in tone.

The only drag is that you need to take the amp out of the HRD to get the speaker in, which can damage the shielding - I'd have an amp tech do it because getting the amp in and out is a pain.

BTW, the 65 in my HRD is 8 ohm, and the two in my 2x12 are 16 ohm.

Hi Scott,
thank you very much for your fast reply! Concerning the 8 or 16 versions of the speaker...is there a tonal difference between them in a 2x12 cab? And...probably a stupid question...but which speaker out I have to use with two 16 ohm speakers...8 or 16?

Thanx

Nigel

Two 16 ohm speakers should be wired to produce 8 ohms, so plug into the 8 ohm speaker jack of your amp.

Yes, there's a bit of a tonal difference. 16 ohm speakers are brighter than 8 ohm speakers. If you were to use a 2x12 cabinet with your Deluxe instead of the speaker in the combo, it would probably be brighter - but that's easy to fix with the EQ of the amp.
