Hey Scott- In the last guitar wank, you mentioned some really cool techniques of panning and using delays to get a bigger sound. Some of it went a little over my head. I'm a big fan of Oz Noy and SRV, so would love to wrap my head around what they're doing especially in their solos like you were talking about.

Is it 2 guitar tracks, and one is panned further than the other with more delay time? Thanks for the help.

I answered that in another thread called "Setting Delay for Different Sections". It's not far down the list so I'm sure you'll see it - if that doesn't clear things up for you, feel free to ask more.

Very informative post. Thank you Scott.

Do you happen to have any song name examples of songs Oz Noy is doing in his solos and what your ears tell you is happening with his delay techniques? Would like to make sure I'm hearing what you're describing. But I do like a lot of his sounds, as they sound big and wide a lot on his solos.

All I know is that he told me he records two amps, one on the left and one on the right. I don't know if he spreads them apart by milliseconds. When I hear Oz, I don't hear much delay on his solos - most of the time it's reverb only.
