hi Scott -

I saw recently that D'Addario have a set of XLs halfway between 10s and 11s, which would make them, hang on, let me think....... 10.5s !!!

Have you tried them in either standard tuning or a half step down, or interested in trying them out being a loyal D'Addario user?

from their site:

https://bit.ly/2F4BSu5

EXL110+ Nickel Wound, Regular Light Plus, 10.5-48
String Gauges: Plain Steel .0105, .0135, .018, Nickel Wound .028, .038, .048

regards,
Simon

I haven't tried them - it's hard enough for me to play legato with 10's, plus my action is fairly high for tone. I'm sure they're a great option for some people because the difference between 10's and 11's is huge.

Scott, are you currently running your action higher than the Suhr factory spec of 1/16" at the last fret?

No, it's 1/16 like they set it at Suhr. It just seems a bit high to me compared to the old days when I was playing 9's with very low action.
