I love Yngwie! Actually his favorite composer is Paganini - absolutely my least favorite classical composer, so when Yngwie plays that harmonic minor wanna-be classical music I throw up in my mouth a little.... but when he plays this rock/ blues stuff he's one of my favorite guitar players. What a badass! His tone is awesome too - DOD OD250 into loud Marshalls - that's the shit.

Definetly badass and badass tone. I remember hearing his demo before he released his first record. That demo made everybody drop his jaw, but i personally never felt listening to it again nor anything he made after that, once i had heard it. Every time i hear him it's like wow but awfull at the same time.

Though i have a real Yngwie favorite, it's his I'm Your New God video. Unfortunately it keeps being removed from yt all the time.

Petrucci is a god as well:

And man, fucked was those years when I tried to play some Yngwie's stuffs. A humbly exercise, mentally thought: OK, I'll stick with Blackmore's chops and try to be a better musician, because, that's my physical limit, hahaha.

Hipfreejazz that blues solo is killing! The parody is funny too.

Scott, I think it's pretty obvious that you are not into that scale!
1:06 when Yngwie's solo starts. I think it's one of the times that the rhythms make the scale sound better. https://youtu.be/UE_i-AIQZto

Cool we’re talking about Yngwie. I always dug him. He stands out with his tone and phrasing and attitude. I’ll always like Eddie more but Yngwie is the other outstanding 80s rock guitar players imo —at least as far as tone and phrasing.
I liked his playing in Alcatraz.
