Scott, Love the Eminance wizard clip. For me one of the best tones I've heard you dial up to date. Great stuff!! Think your on to something real special there. |

Dude,
first, let me say congrats on the inclusion in the Eminence Sound Clips-great stuff!!!For me there's no doubt that I prefer the Wizard clip,The EV has some weird nasally "honkiness" happening for me.Now,what I'd love is to hear a Wizard clip with some more gain-you know what I like!

Hi Scott,
Thanks for posting these eminence clips. I was so impressed with the tone of your samples that I managed to get hold of some of the first in the UK and load them in a Custom Cabs 2x12 I have here.
Here's a demo of them with the Skrydstup. (appologies for not doing more takes of the Skrydstup sooner -I have so little time)

Great clip Woody! So please tell the amp channel and gain levels on each section. I tend to use a bit much gain myself... I should lower it a tad.
Find some time to record more clips!

Hi Scott,
I love the tone you get man I don't think you use too much gain!!
OK here are the settings:
I used Channel Two (Drive channel) and the setting for all the controls were: (left to right as you look at the amp)
Volume 4
Bright Two (Switch down)
Deep Switch off (switch Down)
Treble 6
Mid 5.5
Bass 6.5
Overdrive 6
OD - Level 1
Master 2
Presence 5.5
These are my permanent settings now for both set -ups 2 x THD cabs or the one 2 x12 loaded with the wizards. The THD's are a little warmer and softer (might just because they've broken in nicely), but the wizards are incredible. Got that hint of grit in them and the mid voicing is so nice.
It was the same settings across all takes. I recorded each take one after the other without changing any amp settings. Any tonal adjustments were done on the guitar and only on the amp when I switched to clean for the third take.
Guitars the Suhr Chambered Strat. First sample was - bridge middle, second - Bridge with treble rolled of a tad and third the neck pickup.
Oh the Mic was a Superlux, which happened to be built into the cab. I had been favouring the 57 up until now but I don't think the Superlux sounded too bad at all and I don't have to mess about with mic placement.
I'll try and post some more soon. Thanks. |

Oh man - I think I should just pack it all away and give up. Great takes Scott. I loved both of them. Killer tone, killer playing.
Out of the two I think I prefer the 'darker' take
I mixed these takes less wet because it was actually done for the guy I bought the speakers from. He wanted some short burst to demo the Speakers on his website. That was the reason for the three takes. Under normal circumstances I probably would have added a touch more reverb....... |
