Hey, Scott, coupla questions:

I've read & heard a coupla members talking about this diminished triad thing, is that from the triad superimposition lesson? i've not had time to look it over yet, but is it similar in approach to carlton's? or maybe the joe pass thing where he looks for smaller "shapes" inside larger chord forms? i think (in the vid) he was playing in Cmin but saying he could play any Eb line because of the relative maj/min relationship between the two. Thanks!

The diminished triads are on those lesson sheets of Scott's though I am not sure that the dim triad up a half step from the root of a dom7 is on there. I don't think it is but it is OK to us it as verified by ScottL, Scott Henderson, Herbie, Coltrane i'm sure, Robben Ford, yada, yada. It is one of my favorites.

I haven't even looked at the notes but obviously it is a more intervallic approach to a half whole dim scale on the root of a dom7 and should give similar tones as melodic minor up a half step as well.

I used it before I even knew what it was after transcribing it from Henderson on his live disc.

Right on..... Dim triads up a 1/2 are fine too.....

Good post.

Bob, if you shoot me an email with your #, we can chat about subs and stuff. Easier than typing Wink

I also want to eventually record some examples.

Scott
