It's with deep sadness the I must report the passing of one of our charter members, Barry Weber, aka Frankenstrat. I knew Barry only through several years of correspondence here and the gear page. He was a gentle, bright spirit with an uplifting sense of humor and a deep love of guitar music and all that surrounds it. I will miss his presence, and the world will be a lesser place without him.

Below is a link to a memorial thread at thegearpage.com, which contains many remembrances from friends and acquaintances, and some wonderful photos of Barry and his incredible collection of gear.

Too young. RIP Frankenstrat, or Barry I guess, since I had no idea who you were. Strange how the guy on TV was the guy from the boards the whole time...a very positive presence in both places.

Yeah, that kind of freaked me out. turns out I had seen him a bunch on the PBS show. That's the kind of guy he was, though--never once played the "I'm on television" card. Sweet guy. As they say, fuck cancer.
