I'm running a PT-100 with an Oversize Bogner 2x12 cab with Vintage 30's. Sounds good to my ears - but would like to try the Scumback M75's - Bogner's cabs are very solid. My 2x12 cab weighs close to 80 lbs. Also had an ENGL 2x12 Pro cab that was pretty awesome.

Bumping this for opinions on the two speaker options. Probably going to be connected to a PT100 and looking for the usual 80s rock and lead with 70s classic rock and occasional jazz fusion & blues.

Has anyone tried the Riot through this? Patiently waiting for the revamped PT100 but getting serious GAS of the Amp strain and wondered how close the two would get to the PT100s lead channel?

You are probably going to love it if you liked the 18. It definitely feels and sounds bigger and bolder. It's certainly punchier. I think even driving the power section hard it's a little more stiff but still has great "give."

Tonally of course very similar to 18.

Incredible amp.

Especially on SS frets, no steel wool. I'm not a fan of any drying oils on fingerboard either which would include Linseed oil.
Use Big Bends Fingerboard Juice or The Pledge should do it.

Ah, very good to know. So would steel wool still be ok with traditional (nickel) frets? Very curious about this as it was our old (mutual) friend and teacher Jeff Becker that turned me onto this maintenance routine for rosewood fingerboards almost over 25 years ago.

Thanks. It seems my fingers don't know how to make notes last on this guitar's upper register... The main other guitar I play (aside from the S2 which is currently getting jumbo ss frets and a ssc at your shop - excited) is a Les Paul, which is mahogany, so I thought I was a mahogany guy - it's great and has no problem with notes dying off - but is of course a completely different beast (construction, shape, maple cap, ebony fingerboard, etc.). Maybe I like my mahogany only if mixed with other ingredients. I think I may have been hoping to find a guitar that is THE guitar, that can get me those Les Paul tones and Strat tones and everything in-between. I really do love the Rasmus' split coil sounds. Might be more reasonable to enjoy the beauty of different guitars having different sounds, and using them accordingly. Who would have thought...
Mahogany isn't that dense but is toneful.
I believe you probably already have a steel block but if not yes that would help, use a magnet to check it.
If you change to 11s you might be pinching in the nut slot. Make sure you can lift each string out of the nut slot without pinching.
Then play the hell out of it, the tone improves as does sustain the more you play it.

Thanks!

The plate is indeed steel. The strings are not pinching at all. I like the suggestion to play the hell out of it, although I've done that for a few months already.

It is a good sounding guitar but there is a lot of soft wood exposed with the rosewood and mahogany - may be too much for me.

I may just have to flip this guitar and save up to get one of the new M7s or M8s. Maple top with maple neck or pau ferro may be more in the realm of performance I'm looking for.

Is there any difference in sustain between the two body shapes (modern and standard) with same woods and components?

Well the modern has more mass. You might just not be a Mahogany guy.
But as we always say.... Sustain comes from the fingers
