hi scott,
i wanted to thank you for your enthusiasm for fuchs amps.
you and your clips helped me to decide to order a ods 50 unseen.
(i live in europe - so no chance to test one)
i received it in fall 2004. i love it!!!!!!
since the slx models came out i always think of making the, for me currently, best amp even better sounding.
sadly i donīt have a chance to get my hands on a slx model to test it.
my question:
do you have any comparsion clips before and after the slx mod?
i am currently in contact with andy about a modification but i would be interested to hear the difference before, plus its not so easy to ship my amp overseas for the mod!
thank you very much for your help!!!
regards

Hi Tom,
Glad you are loving the amp.
While I don't have apples to apples clips comparing the preSLX to the current version, I do have these two clips to demonstrate the tone difference between the SLX with old internal cable to the SLX with new internal cable. Although the clips were recorded at different times and different mic placement, you can hear how the new clip has far more articulation. This cable upgrade is part of the SLX mods. The base tone is a tad different between clips but the high end is what I want you to listen to. The cable doesn't change the lows, it only opened the highs up. The clips were recorded over a month apart. You can always roll the highs off with the new cable but you can't add with the old.

Hi Scott,
Maybe it's a good idea to show the settings you use on your Fuchs as an example. Great soundclips and even nicer with this extra information?
We mailed about the SLX mod before.

Hi Pete,
Please email me again. I'll run down my settings. I will say here that I use the rock switch but no deep or bright.
Thanks for the post!

Hi Scott,
What exactly is the Scott Lerner (SLX) mod? I have a 2003 50 watt ODS that I bougt awhile back on ebay and it's really a nice amp, though, it has that custom snake skin covering I could have lived without... I've actually gotten used to that:) Anyway, I'm wondering if the mod will produce a singing tone at lower volume. I think I spoke to Jack Zucker and he stated something like this. If you could fill me in on a little detail I'd really appreciate it. Do you know what Andy charges for the mod?
Thanks,
Steve Carroll
p.s. Love the clips! |

I checked recently and Andy quoted $175 plus return shipping. I love my ODS 50 also . I love the tone now so I am not sure I will want or need the SLX mod. Is there a BIG difference that I should spend the extra couple of hundred dollars on the mod? What do you think?
Thanks,
Richard
By the way, I am selling my Two Rock Custom now since hearing , playing, and purchasing my ODS 50. |
