I discovered that I had installed an incorrectly sized volume pot while testing a new mod. It was really sucking the body out of the tone. I fixed the pot and was able to brighten the tone without harshness. Needless to say I am pretty happy that I have fullness and body with a nice topend. All from my SM57 mic which is not the brightest mic.
Here is the clip. Just a quick tone test, flubs and all....

The Eminence Wizard is sounding great too. I can't wait to try out the Tonespotters I have here.

What kind of mod did you do to get that tone with a SM57? So rich, so pure. I would love to get a sound like that. |
